Grapes are getting ready to wake up!

I planted two rows of grape prunings last year right after we took over management. This was in an area overgrown with blackberries, maybe 10' tall! Jamie helped me remove them from the area, putting our first land into cultivation.

Another resident Orestes and I watered them through the summer. This was helped by relocating a spare IBC tank and pumping out the old swimming pool water to it. Later we took delivery of large amounts of wood chips and mulched the area.

Overall, it was a great success and now we have dozens of grape starts awaiting transplant to their final resting places. I am mulling over moving them to just inside the south fence. But first we will have to remove all the invasives along the fence. Mike and I have already started that but we only did maybe 10 percent of the length. We will also install a water and power lines along here.
