More cucurbit progress!

Neil, of the Kailash Group Gardens team, led a work party on Sunday at the cucurbits garden. Neil writes: Over at Annapurna we broadforked the growing beds, then covered with plastic. We wood chipped & broadcast Phacelia seed around. Added compost to the top pyramid bed, but we'll want to get another compost delivery to cover all the beds....

Here are a couple photos showing the action.

Two days before, on Friday, Neil and a few other folks had their first work party on this site. Neil writes: Had a nice work party over at Annapurna, joined by John N & Linda from KEV, Summer, Wade, Shay, Eliot & Evan  from Annapurna.

Like Michelangelo , we decided we'd start with a fresh canvas, so we took out all the t-posts, pulled up the irrigation, John mowed, then we started shaping our beds etc, many worms were saved by the kids, and re-homed in the compost. Got some lime & fertilizer spread & piles of soil spread.

I'd like to work over there again at this coming Sun work party, if anyone who's on the Annapurna listserv could send an announcement, This Sunday from 9am till ?.

Hoping to lay plastic on the beds, as mulch for a few weeks, and start wood chipping, spread some compost and watch it take shape, like in New York, I'd get high and go watch Adam Purple in his garden, it made me happy.

Here are a couple photos from then:
